Excellent podcast as always. I just wanted to straighten one thing out: Frances Ha’s ecstatic “Modern Love” shot is a direct quotation of a shot in Leos Carax’s Mauvais Sang, with Lavant in the Gerwig role (surely Frances’s dancing training/profession is likewise an homage, specifically to Lavant): https://youtu.be/WGUVOMSctkU .
I don’t mean to criticize, but rather to give due credit to an amazing scene (and actor and filmmaker).

Hi Mark,
Many thanks for taking the time to submit your comment. Having been so focused on paying tribute to Bowie, I had completely overlooked Carax’s film! Many thanks for pointing it out to me. I hope you continue to drop in to the site and I look forward to any further comments you may wish to make.
Best wishes,
